Input Shaft, Removing And Installing: Removing
Refer to REPAIR INFORMATION .
Refer to GUIDELINES FOR CLEAN WORKING CONDITIONS .
- Transmission removed and mounted vertically to the engine and transmission holder. Refer to SECURING ON ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION HOLDER .
- Adapting the :T40099 for use on the multitronic transmission 0AW FWD. Refer to Pressure Stand .
-- Drain the ATF (refer to ATF, DRAINING FOR ATF FLUSH ); tilt the transmission to the installation position (level) to do so.
The transmission must not be turned where the flange points downward.
-- Mark the installation position of the input shaft cover with color -arrows-.
-- Remove the circlip -1-.
There are two different versions of circlips.
The current circlips do not have a groove and can only be removed using a screwdriver.
-- Mount the :T40050 on the input shaft.
-- Make sure the puller is secure on the input shaft.
- The circlip must be pushed all the way down.
-- Pull the input shaft together with the cover and forward gear clutch out of the transmission housing -arrow- using the :VAS6100 with :T40050 .
It is very difficult to loosen the input shaft cover from the transmission housing. Pretension the input shaft with the :VAS6100 and then carefully hit the transmission housing flange with a plastic hammer with a piece of wood placed in between until the cover comes loose.
A damaged oil pipe can cause start-up problems or transmission failure.
- The input shaft may not be placed on the protruding oil pipe -arrow-.
-- Place the input shaft on the :T40099 .
