Input Shaft Cover, Removing And Installing: Removing

Input shaft is removed. Refer to INPUT SHAFT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
Adapting the :T40099 for use on the multitronic transmission 0AW FWD. Refer to Pressure Stand .

-- Pull the oil pipe -arrow- upward and out to avoid damage.

-- Check all eight bolts -arrows- on the :T40099 .

The bolts must be installed flush to 25 Nm. Refer to the Assembly instructions for :T40099 .

-- Insert the input shaft in the :T40099 .

-- Rotate the :T40014 by hand into shaft seal until the tool has a good hold in the shaft seal. Then tighten the tool with an open end wrench.

-- The shaft seal can be pulled out slightly by screwing in the rear screw -arrow-.

-- Retighten with an open end wrench so that the :T40014 engages securely in the shaft seal again and turn the screw to continue pulling out the shaft seal.

-- Repeat the process until the shaft seal is completely pulled out.

-- Remove the circlip from the input shaft cover -1-.

-- Measure and note the thickness of removed circlip.

NOTE:

When installing, the circlip must be replaced with a new circlip with the same thickness.

-- Clean the contact surface on the input shaft cover.

WARNING:

There is a risk of being burned.

Always wear safety gloves and protective eyewear.

-- Cool the hollow shaft -1- on the inside of the placement -arrow 2- of the ball bearing -2- for the input shaft using ice spray, for example, over the opening -arrow 1- of the removed oil pipe.

NOTE:

The input shaft is shown in sections here.

The input shaft must be cooled so that the cover with the input shaft ball bearing can be pressed off more easily and not be damaged.

-- Clean the surface on the :T40099 .

-- Place the input shaft in the pressure stand.

The contact surface on the input shaft cover must be flush.
Make sure there are no shavings or dirt between the contact surface of the input shaft cover and the :T40099 .

-- Cool the input shaft also from outside -arrow- with ice spray, for example.

NOTE:

The input shaft must be cooled so that the cover with the input shaft ball bearing can be pressed off more easily and not be damaged.

-- Place the input shaft together with the :T40099 on the hydraulic press pressure plate.

NOTE:

The :T40099 should rest on as much surface of the hydraulic press as possible.

-- Hold the input shaft from below and push it out at the same time from the cover using the hydraulic press.

-- Place the input shaft on the :T10219/1 .
