Overview - SUBFRAME

NOTE:
Welding and straightening work on supporting or wheel carrying components of the suspension is not permitted.
Always replace self-locking nuts.
Always replace corroded bolts/nuts.
Bonded rubber bushings have a limited range of motion. Therefore, the threaded connections of the components with bonded rubber bushings should only be tightened when the wheel bearing housing is lifted (curb weight position). Refer to LIFTING THE FRONT AXLE TO THE CURB WEIGHT POSITION .
- Front Final Drive
- Removing and installing. Refer to REAR FINAL DRIVE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING [For transmission(s) 0C8] .
- Nut
- 90 Nm + 90°
- Always replace if removed
- Bolt
- Always replace if removed
- Subframe
- Secure for vehicles with V6 engines. Refer to SUBFRAME, SECURING, VEHICLES WITH V6 ENGINES .
- Secure for vehicles with V8 engines. Refer to SUBFRAME, SECURING, VEHICLES WITH V8 ENGINES .
- Removing and installing. Refer to SUBFRAME, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
- Repair, bonded rubber mount in the forward direction of travel for V6 engines. Refer to SUBFRAME, REPAIRING, BONDED RUBBER MOUNT IN THE FORWARD DIRECTION OF TRAVEL .
- Repair, bonded rubber mount in the forward direction of travel for V8 engines. Refer to SUBFRAME, BONDED RUBBER MOUNT IN THE FORWARD DIRECTION OF TRAVEL FOR V8 ENGINES, REPAIRING .
- Repair, bonded rubber mount in the backward direction of travel for V6 engines. Refer to SUBFRAME, BONDED RUBBER MOUNT IN THE BACKWARD DIRECTION OF TRAVEL, REPAIRING .
- Repair, bonded rubber mount in the backward direction of travel for V8 engines. Refer to SUBFRAME, BONDED RUBBER MOUNT IN THE BACKWARD DIRECTION OF TRAVEL FOR V8 ENGINES, REPAIRING .
- Bonded Rubber Bushing
- Removal and installation in the forward direction of travel for V6 engines. Refer to SUBFRAME, REPAIRING, BONDED RUBBER MOUNT IN THE FORWARD DIRECTION OF TRAVEL .
- Removal and installation in the forward direction of travel for V8 engines. Refer to SUBFRAME, BONDED RUBBER MOUNT IN THE FORWARD DIRECTION OF TRAVEL FOR V8 ENGINES, REPAIRING .
- Removal and installation in the backward direction of travel for V6 engines. Refer to SUBFRAME, BONDED RUBBER MOUNT IN THE BACKWARD DIRECTION OF TRAVEL, REPAIRING .
- Removal and installation in the backward direction of travel for V8 engines. Refer to SUBFRAME, BONDED RUBBER MOUNT IN THE BACKWARD DIRECTION OF TRAVEL FOR V8 ENGINES, REPAIRING .
- Thrust Washer
- The opening points opposite the direction of travel
- Only V8 TDI
- For the allocation. Refer to the Parts Information.
- Bolt
- 120 Nm +180°
- Always replace if removed
- Eccentric Washer
- Inner bore with tab
- Nut
- 170 Nm
- Always replace if removed
- Lower Control Arm
- Removing and installing. Refer to LOWER CONTROL ARM, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
- Tapered plug must be free of oil and grease
- If necessary, clean with a dry rag, do not use cleaning solvent
- Eccentric Screw
- Do not turn more than 90° right or left (that is smallest to largest possible adjustment)
- Perform a vehicle alignment after loosening
- Bolt
- 90 Nm + 90°
- Always replace if removed
- Nut
- 90 Nm + 90°
- Always replace if removed
- Bolt
