Fill Quality, Checking, High Temperature Circuit
It is necessary to check the coolant concentration to determine if there is air in the coolant system.
Special Tools And Workshop Equipment Required
- Cooling System Tester:VAG1274B
- Cooling System Tester - Adapter:VAG1274/8
-- Open the coolant reservoir cap.
-- Position the Cooling System Tester:VAG1274B with the Cooling System Tester - Adapter:VAG1274/8 on the coolant reservoir.
-- Generate approximately 1 bar (14.5 psi) pressure using the cooling system tester hand pump.
-- Check the coolant level inside the reservoir.
There are no leaks in the coolant system if the coolant level goes down by only maximum 25 mm. If the level goes down significantly or if the coolant evaporates from the reservoir, this means there are air bubbles in the coolant system.
Coolant Level OK
-- Perform a road test until the engine operating temperature is reached.
-- Check the coolant level.
The Coolant Level Significantly Goes Down
-- Drain the coolant system. Refer to ENGINE COOLANT SYSTEM, DRAINING, HIGH TEMPERATURE CIRCUIT .
-- Fill the coolant system.
-- Check the coolant concentration one more time. Refer to FILL QUALITY, CHECKING, HIGH TEMPERATURE CIRCUIT .
