Fuel Tank With Attachments, Removing And Installing: Removing
-- Read the Safety Precautions before starting. Refer to FUEL SUPPLY SYSTEM SAFETY PRECAUTIONS .
-- Follow the rules for clean working conditions. Refer to CLEAN WORKING CONDITIONS .
-- Remove the rear axle. Refer to DRIVE AXLE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING
-- Open the fuel filler door and remove the fuel cap.
-- Remove the fuel filler door. Refer to DRIVE AXLE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the rubber seal from the fuel filler tube.
-- Remove the bolts -1- from the filler tube and disconnect the GND wire -2-.
-- Remove the rear bench seat. Refer to REAR SEATS, REMOVING AND INSTALLING ,
-- Fold the right carpet to the side.
-- Loosen the nuts -1 through 4- on the flange cover.
-- Remove the flange cover.
-- Remove the bleed line -1-.
Squeeze the button on the line couplings.
Fuel lines are under pressure.
Danger of personal injury to eyes and skin.
Wear protective eyewear and protective clothing in order to avoid injury and contact with the skin. Wrap a cloth around the connection before loosening hose connections. Open the connection carefully and release the pressure.
-- Place a cloth around the fuel supply line connection -2- and remove the hose coupling.
Squeeze the button on the line couplings.
-- Disconnect the connector -3- from the fuel level sensor and the connector -4- from the fuel pump.
-- Fold the carpet to the side.
-- Loosen the nuts -1 through 4- on the flange cover.
-- Remove the flange cover.
-- Disconnect the connector -arrow- from the sensor flange.
-- Remove the right rear wheel housing liner. Refer to WHEEL HOUSING LINER
-- Remove the stone chip protective molding -arrows-.
-- Unclip the breather lines that are secured on the longitudinal member with clips from the fuel tank.
-- Remove the filler neck bolt -arrow- in the wheel housing.
-- Remove the breather lines from the Evaporative Emission (EVAP). Refer to OVERVIEW - EVAP SYSTEM .
-- Remove securing straps with covers on left and right below fuel tank.
-- Support the fuel tank using the : VAG1383A and remove the strap from the center of the fuel tank.
-- Carefully lower the fuel tank a little.
-- Disconnect the connector from the - J538- -item 4- OVERVIEW - FUEL TANK WITH ATTACHMENTS List Item:Fuel Pump Control Module -J538-.
-- Disconnect the bleed line at the coupling -item 12- OVERVIEW - FUEL TANK WITH ATTACHMENTS List Item:Line Coupling.
Squeeze the button on the line couplings.
-- Lower the fuel tank.
