Fuel Pressure, Checking
-- Read the Safety Precautions before starting. Refer to SAFETY PRECAUTIONS .
-- Follow the rules for clean working conditions. Refer to CLEAN WORKING CONDITIONS .
Fuel lines are under pressure.
Danger of personal injury to eyes and skin.
Wear protective eyewear and protective clothing in order to avoid injury and contact with the skin. Wrap a cloth around the connection before loosening hose connections. Open the connection carefully and release the pressure.
-- Disconnect the fuel supply hose -arrow- from the fuel supply line.
-- Connect the :VAS6550 with the :VAS6550/2 , the : VAS6550/3-1 and the : VAS6550/3-2 as shown.
Secure the hose lines with the included clamps.
Ensure proper seating of the hose clamps.
-- Open the shut-off valves "A" and "B" on the : VAS6550 in the direction of flow.
-- Close the drain valve "C".
-- Press the On/Off button to turn the : VAS6550 on.
-- Connect the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester.
-- Switch the ignition on.
-- On the OBD screen, press one button after the other: 01 - engine electronics and output diagnostic test mode .
-- Push the arrow button → on the display to the fuel pump electronics output diagnostic test mode .
The fuel pump must now accelerate slowly up to the maximum RPM.
-- Read the pressure on the : VAS6550 .
- Specified value: 5.0 to 7.0 bar (72.51 to 101.52 psi)
-- Turn off the ignition.
If Specified Value Is Achieved
-- Holding pressure, checking. Refer to RESIDUAL PRESSURE, CHECKING .
If Specification Is Not Obtained
If the :VAS6550 is to be removed, open shut-off valve "C" and reduce the residual pressure. For this purpose, hold the hose of shut-off valve "C" in a measuring container.
-- Remove the : VAS6550 and then connect the fuel supply line.
-- Make sure the hose clamp is securely fastened.
-- Remove the rear bench seat REAR SEATS, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Fold the right carpet cutout to the side in direction of -arrow-.
-- Loosen the nuts -1 through 4- on the flange cover.
-- Remove the flange cover.
-- Disconnect the fuel supply line -2-.
Press the button on the line coupling together for this purpose.
-- Connect the :VAS6550 with the :VAS6550/3-4 and the : VAS6550/3-3 as shown.
-- Open the shut-off valves "A and B" on the : VAS6550 in the direction of flow.
-- Close shut-off valve "C".
-- Connect the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester.
-- Switch the ignition on.
-- On the OBD screen, press one button after the other: 01 - engine electronics and output diagnostic test mode .
-- Push the arrow button → on the display to the fuel pump electronics output diagnostic test mode .
The fuel pump must now accelerate slowly up to the maximum RPM.
-- Read the pressure on the :VAS6550 .
- Specified value: 5.0 to 7.0 bar (72.51 to 101.52 psi)
-- Turn off the ignition.
If Target Values Are Achieved
-- Check the fuel supply line from the fuel tank to the engine for possible damage.
If Specifications Are Not Obtained Again
-- Make sure all couplings and fuel lines in the fuel tank and the fuel delivery unit are secure and not leaking.
If No Malfunction Can Be Found
-- Replace the fuel delivery unit. Refer to FUEL DELIVERY UNIT AND Fuel Level Sensor -G-, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
