Overview - Front Brakes, BREMBO 17"

NOTE:

After replacing brake pads, depress brake pedal firmly several times with vehicle stationary so that the brake pads are properly seated in their normal operating position.

Use the Brake Charger/Bleeder Unit:VAS5234 or the Extractor:VAG1869/4 to extract brake fluid from brake fluid reservoir.

Install the Brake Pedal Actuator:VAG1869/2 to relieve pressure before removing a brake caliper or disconnecting a brake hose.

Brake Rotor
- Internally vented brake rotor: 330 mm diameter
- Brake rotor thickness: 32 mm
- Wear limit: 30 mm
- Always replace on both axles.
- Left and right sides are different
- Remove the brake caliper before removal, do not disconnect brake line but remove the bracket -item ) OVERVIEW - FRONT BRAKES, BREMBO 17" - Upper Bracket and -item 16- ) OVERVIEW - FRONT BRAKES, BREMBO 17" - Lower Bracket.
Fitting Bolt
- 15 Nm
- Brake rotor to wheel hub
Dust Cap
- Install onto bleeder valve
- As a bracket for the brake pad wear display wire
Brake Caliper
- Do not detach the brake line when replacing the brake rotor.
- Removing and installing. Refer to BRAKE CALIPER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
- Servicing. Refer to OVERVIEW - BRAKE CALIPER, BREMBO 17" .
Spring
Brake Pad Pins
Hex Bolt
- 270 Nm
- Always replace if removed
Brake Pad Wear Display Wire
- Changed to one contact, inside
Brake Pads
- Thickness: 11 mm without backing plate
- Wear limit: 2 mm without backing plate
- With wear indicator
- When wear limit is reached (limit: approximately 4 mm) the warning lamp in instrument cluster will come on.
- Check the thickness. Refer to appropriate service information.
- Always replace on both axles.
- Removing and installing. Refer to BRAKE PADS, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
Brake Line
- 14 Nm
- Do not detach the brake line when replacing the brake rotor.
Spring Clamp
Brake Hose
- 14 Nm
TORX^® Bolt
- 9 Nm
Upper Bracket
- Bolt to wheel bearing housing
Hex Socket Bolt
- 20 Nm
Lower Bracket
- Bolt to the wheel bearing housing
