Engine, Removing: Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2015 Audi RS 5, 2014 Audi RS 5, and 2013 Audi RS 5. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE:

With lock carrier installed, engine is removed downward together with the transmission and the subframe.

During installation, cable ties must be installed at the same location.

WARNING:

Risk of vehicle tipping over with engine removed.

  • Secure vehicle. Luggage compartment must be empty for this.

There is a risk of injury because the fuel is under very high pressure.

  • Reduce the fuel pressure down to residual pressure before opening high pressure area of the fuel injection system.

-- Reduce the fuel pressure in the high pressure area. Refer to RELEASING PRESSURE IN HIGH PRESSURE AREA .

NOTE:

So that the front wheels can still be turned with the battery disconnected, the battery must only be disconnected with ignition key inserted.

To be able to turn the drive axle to remove it, move the selector lever to "N" and release the electromechanical parking brake before disconnecting the battery.

-- Position the front wheels so they are straight.

-- Turn off the ignition and remove the key.
