Balance Shaft Drive Chain, Removing And Installing: Installing

-- Turn the intermediate shaft sprocket/balance shaft to the markings -arrow-.

NOTE:

The painted links of the timing chain must be positioned on the markings on the chain sprockets.

-- Mount the timing chain; the painted links of the timing chain must be positioned on the markings on the chain sprockets.

-- Install the timing chain guide rail and tighten the bolts -4-.

-- Install the timing chain guide rail and tighten the bolts -3-.

-- Install the timing chain tensioning rail and tighten the bolt -2-.

-- Coat the chain tensioner seal -1- with sealant .

-- Install the timing chain tensioner -1-.

-- Check this adjustment one more time.

-- Check the markings on the intermediate sprocket/balance shaft -arrow-.

NOTE:

The marking on the intermediate sprocket/balance shaft is shown with the chain removed.

Further installation is done in the reverse order of removal. Note the following:

-- Install camshaft timing chain, refer to CAMSHAFT TIMING CHAIN, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Install the lower timing chain cover, refer to LOWER TIMING CHAIN COVER, REPLACING .

-- Install the upper timing chain cover, refer to UPPER TIMING CHAIN COVER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
