Overview - Valve Train, 1.8L Engine: Notes

Exhaust Valve
- Do not rework, only lapping is permitted
- Valve Dimensions. Refer to Valve Guides, Checking .
- Valve Guides, Checking. Refer to Valve Guides, Checking .
Cylinder Head
Valve Guide
- Checking. Refer to Valve Guides, Checking .
Valve Stem Seal
- Replacing. Refer to Valve Stem Seals, Removing and Installing .
Valve Spring
Valve Spring Retainer
Valve Retainers
Hydraulic Lifter
- With roller rocker lever
- Do not interchange
- Lubricate the contact surface
Exhaust Camshaft
- Removing and installing. Refer to Camshaft, Removing and Installing, 1.8L Engine
- Check the radial clearance using Plastigauge® (roller rocker lever removed)
- Radial clearance: 0.024 to 0.066 mm
- Run-out: maximum 0.04 mm
Cylinder Head Cover
- With integrated camshaft bearings
- Removing and installing. Refer to Camshaft, Removing and Installing, 1.8L Engine
- Clean the sealing surface, reworking is not permitted.
- Remove old sealant residue.
- Only replace together with the cylinder head
Bolt
- Tightening specification and sequence. Refer to Cylinder Head Cover - Tightening Specifications and Sequence .
- Always replace after removing
- Loosening. Refer to Cylinder Head Cover, Loosening .
O-ring
- Always replace after removing
- Lubricate with engine oil
Plug
Intake Camshaft
- Removing and installing. Refer to Camshaft, Removing and Installing, 1.8L Engine
- Check the radial clearance using Plastigauge® (roller rocker lever removed)
- Radial clearance: 0.024 to 0.066 mm
- Run-out: maximum 0.04 mm
Cap
- Always replace after removing
- Removing: with the cylinder head cover installed, pierce through one side of the cover with an awl and pry it out
- Installing .
Intake Valve
- Do not rework, only lapping is permitted
