C-pillar trim, removing and installing

CAUTION: Note safety precautions for working on airbags → Airbag system, general safety precautions and side curtain airbags → Side curtain airbag, additional safety precautions .

NOTE:

Replace self-locking screws.

1 - C-pillar trim

Removal:

Remove rear seat side panel → Rear seat side padding, removing and installing or rear side airbag → Rear side airbag (foldable backrest), removing and installing .
Remove luggage compartment side trim → Side luggage compartment trim .
Remove cover above rear doors → Trim above rear door, removing and installing .
Remove rear belt guide → Right and left rear belt guide piece, removing and installing .

Remove bolts for head-level airbag in rear area → Side curtain airbag (Avant), removing and installing .
Remove bolts - 3 -.
Remove trim - 1 -, unclip spring clip - 2 - to do so.

Installing:

Installation is reverse of removal. Observe the following when doing so:

Secure head-level airbag with new bolts → Side curtain airbag (Avant), removing and installing .
Sealing rubber in rear side door must be laid over C-pillar trim.

CAUTION: Ensure trim is held securely.

Tightening torque 3.5 Nm
