Steering Gear: Installing

Install in reverse order of removal. Note The Following:

Tightening specifications, refer to ELECTROMECHANICAL POWER STEERING GEAR WITH TIE RODS OVERVIEW .

-- Install both bolts -1- loosely at first and then tighten them.

-- Install stabilizer bar STABILIZER BAR .

-- Install the crossbrace. Refer to SUBFRAME CROSSBRACE, COUPE AND SPORTBACK .

-- Install the crossbrace. Refer to SUBFRAME CROSSBRACE, CABRIOLET .

The "program" J 500 replace control module must be started using vehicle diagnostic tester in Guided Fault Finding if a new electro-mechanical steering gear is installed.

-- An axle alignment may be required. Refer to WHEEL ALIGNMENT .
