Engine, Installing: Notes

PROCEDURE 

• Replace the bolts that were tightened with an additional turn.
• Replace the self-locking nuts and bolts, gaskets, seals and O-rings.
• The hose connections as well as air duct pipes and hoses must be free of oil and grease before installing.
• Secure all hose connections with hose clamps that match the ones used in series production. Refer to the Parts Information.
• During installation, install all cable ties back at the same position.

-- Install the intermediate plate. Refer to graphic below.

-- If the alignment sleeves -A- for centering the engine and transmission are missing inside the cylinder block, then install the sleeves.

TIP

Vehicles with a Manual Transmission

-- If a needle bearing is installed in crankshaft, remove needle bearing. Refer to CRANKSHAFT NEEDLE BEARING, REPLACING .

-- If the clutch release bearing is worn, replace it. Refer to appropriate service information. .

-- Lightly lubricate transmission input shaft splines with clutch disc connection lubricating grease. Refer to the Parts Information

-- Check the clutch plate alignment.

Vehicles with Dual Clutch Transmission

-- If no needle bearing is installed in crankshaft, install needle bearing. Refer to CRANKSHAFT NEEDLE BEARING, REPLACING .

AWD Vehicles

-- Install the bevel box bracket. Refer to BEVEL BOX .

All Vehicles

-- Tighten the transmission to the engine.

-- Install the transmission support.

-- Lift the engine/transmission assembly using the :T10497  .

-- Guide the engine/transmission subassembly into the body.

-- Install the bolts -arrows- for the engine mount by hand until it is in position.

TIP

-- Remove :T10497  from engine.

-- Install the starter. Refer to STARTER .

-- Install the Charge Air Cooling Pump -V188-. Refer to Charge Air Cooling Pump -V188-, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Install the air guide pipe. Refer to OVERVIEW - CHARGE AIR SYSTEM .

Vehicles with Dual Clutch Transmission

-- Install and adjust the selector lever cable. Refer to SELECTOR MECHANISM, REMOVING AND INSTALLING [For transmission(s) 0D9] .

AWD Vehicles

-- Install the driveshaft to the bevel box. Refer to BEVEL BOX .

Vehicles with Engine Code CRUA

-- Install the Reducing Agent Injector -N474-. Refer to Reducing Agent Injector -N474-, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

All Vehicles

-- Install the high pressure lines. Refer to HIGH PRESSURE LINE, INSTALLING .

-- Install the intake tube. Refer to OVERVIEW - TURBOCHARGER .

-- Install the front exhaust pipe. Refer to FRONT EXHAUST PIPE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Install the drive axles. Refer to Drive Axle .

-- Install the A/C compressor. Refer to A/C COMPRESSOR .

-- Install the ribbed belt. Refer to RIBBED BELT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Install the Engine Control Module (ECM). Refer to Engine Control Module -J623-, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Install the Differential Pressure Sensor -G505-. Refer to Differential Pressure Sensor -G505-, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Connect the clutch slave cylinder. Refer to appropriate service information. .

-- Bleed the clutch hydraulic. Refer to appropriate service information. .

-- Install the cables with the cable bracket. Refer to SELECTOR MECHANISM, REMOVING AND INSTALLING [For transmission(s) 0D9] .

-- Adjust the subframe mount. Refer to SUBFRAME MOUNT, ADJUSTING .

-- Install the battery tray. Refer to BATTERY .

-- For the electrical connections and wiring routing. Refer to RELAY CARRIERS, FUSE PANELS AND E-BOXES and to Wiring Diagram.

-- Connect the vacuum hoses. Refer to CONNECTION DIAGRAM - VACUUM SYSTEM .

-- Install the air filter housing. Refer to OVERVIEW - AIR FILTER HOUSING .

-- Connect the coolant hoses with the connector coupling. Refer to graphic below.

-- Check the oil level. Refer to appropriate service information.

-- Bleed the fuel system. Refer to FUEL SYSTEM, FILLING/BLEEDING .

-- Fill with coolant. Refer to COOLANT, DRAINING AND FILLING WITHOUT Cooling System Charge Kit - Electric Vacuum Pump:VAS6096/2 .

-- Install the subframe. Refer to SUBFRAME .

-- Install the front wheel housing liners. Refer to WHEEL HOUSING LINER .
