Turbocharger Vacuum Diaphragm, Checking

Special tools and workshop equipment required 

Procedure 

-- Remove the engine cover -arrows-.

-- Connect the VAS 6213 to the vacuum diaphragm -arrow-.

-- Move the sliding ring -1- on the hand vacuum pump to the "Pressure" position -arrow B-.

CAUTION:

The vacuum diaphragm could be damaged.

  • The pressure must not exceed 850 mBar.

-- Activate the hand vacuum pump several times and watch the linkage -A-.

NOTE:

If pressure cannot be generated with the hand vacuum pump or the pressure decreases again immediately, check the hand vacuum pump and connecting hoses for leaks.

Replace the vacuum diaphragm if no malfunction is found, refer to TURBOCHARGER VACUUM DIAPHRAGM .
