Transmission Side Sealing Flange
Special tools and workshop equipment required
- Sealant.
Procedure
- Transmission removed.
- Tightening specifications, refer to Figure.
-- Remove dual mass flywheel. Refer to DUAL MASS FLYWHEEL .
-- Unhook the intermediate plate at sealing flange and at the alignment sleeves -arrows-.
-- Remove the bolts -1 through 8- and remove the sealing flange.
Risk of contaminating lubrication system with sealant residue.
- Cover any open part of the oil pan.
-- Carefully remove sealant residue on cylinder block and oil pan.
-- Clean the sealing surfaces; they must be free of oil and grease.
Note the expiration date of the sealing compound.
-- Cut the tube nozzle at the front marking (nozzle diameter approximately 3 mm).
-- Apply a thin bead of sealant -arrows- on edge between cylinder block and oil pan.
-- Lightly coat lower sealing surface -shaded- on sealing flange with sealant.
The lubrication system could be plugged with excess sealant.
- Do not apply sealant bead thicker than indicated.
The sealing flange must be installed within 5 minutes after applying the sealant.
-- Install the sealing flange -2- and guide sleeve -1- (inserted in the replacement part) on the crankshaft.
-- Carefully push the sealing flange onto the cylinder block pins.
-- Tighten the sealing flange. Refer to Figure.
The rest of the installation is performed in reverse order of removal, noting the following:
-- Install the intermediate plate. Refer to Figure.
-- Install dual mass flywheel. Refer to DUAL MASS FLYWHEEL .
