Battery, Removing And Installing: Installing: Notes
- Tightening specification: Coupe: Refer To OVERVIEW - BATTERY, COUPE ; Sportback: Refer To OVERVIEW - BATTERY, SPORTBACK .
Only maintenance-free batteries conforming to standards "TL82506" (from 12/1997) and "VW75073" (from 08/2001) may be installed.
Batteries from the Audi Parts Program have a base strip adapter for conforming to different clamping strips. See the battery operating instructions for information on when and how to use the base strip adapter.
-- Insert battery in battery mount so that base strip -1- engages in battery mount retaining strips -arrow-.
- The battery must not be able to move at all.
-- Position the battery bracket -7-.
- The tab on the battery bracket must engage in the recess on the battery base strip.
-- Tighten The Battery Bracket Bolt -6-.
-- Connect Central Venting System Hose -5- And Pay Attention To The Directions. Refer To BATTERY, CHARGING WITH BATTERY CHARGER :VAS5900 .
-- With the ignition and electrical consumers switched off, connect the battery -1- in the following sequence:
-- First attach the battery positive cable terminal -2- by hand to the battery positive terminal "+" and tighten nut.
-- Close the cover -3- over the battery positive terminal.
Ignore -item 4-.
-- Disconnect the connector -2- from the Battery Monitoring Control Module -J367- -item 1-.
-- To connect, connect the battery ground cable terminal clamp by hand to the battery negative terminal "-" and tighten nut -3-
-- Reconnect the connector to the Battery Monitoring Control Module -J367-.
-- Make sure the battery is seated correctly after installing it.
Negative Terminal Cover - Version I:
-- Press The Negative Terminal Cover -1- Onto The Battery.
Continuation For All Vehicles:
-- Insert The Bracket -2- And Tighten The Bolts -A arrows-.
-- Install The Vehicle Tool Kit Cover. Refer To OVERVIEW - LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT FLOOR .
-- If the battery was replaced, then the new battery must be adapted using the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester.
