Front backrest, removing and installing

1 - Backrest

Removal:

Remove seat → Front power seats with memory, removing and installing .
Mount the fixture for seat repair VAS 6136 on the engine and transmission holder VAS 6095.
Attach the front seat to the fixture for seat repair VAS 6136.
Remove side trim on sill side → Side panels on door sill side, removing and installing .

Remove side trim on tunnel side → Side panels on door sill side, removing and installing .
Remove screw - 5 -.
Turn bracket - 6 - upward.
Remove bolts - 4 - (Qty. 4).

Disengage retaining strip - 9 - from seat pan - 7 -.
Pry off backrest mounting brackets - 2 - (Qty. 2) on guides in seat pan - 7 -.
Tip backrest - 1 - forward on seat.
Push cushion aside and carefully disconnect wiring harness - 3 - from seat pan - 7 -.

Remove backrest - 1 -.

Installing:

Installation is reverse of removal. Observe the following when doing so:

Position spacer - 8 - on tunnel side onto lower guide in seat pan so that the spacer stands flush with guide.
Always replace bolts - 4 - (Qty. 4).
Cut threads in backrest frame before installing bolts - 4 - (Qty. 4).

For seats with seat memory:

Perform a basic setting for backrest or seat after installing seat in vehicle.

Threaded holes must always be cleaned (e.g. with a thread cutter)

1 - Cable tie

Cut cable tie - 1 -.
Remove rubber strap - 2 -.
Disconnect connector - 4 - (Qty. 4).
Remove adhesive strips on securing rails - 3 - (Qty. 5).
