Front Flange Shaft And Driveshaft Seal, Transfer Case Installed, Removing And Installing: Removing

-- On vehicles with air suspension, activate vehicle lifting mode. Refer to Self-Leveling Suspension .

-- Raise the vehicle.

-- Remove the screws and remove the rear noise insulation -2-.

-- Place the Used Oil Collection and Extraction Unit VAG 1782 under the transfer case.

-- Remove the drain plug -2- and drain the transmission fluid.

-- Install the drain plug -2- with Locking FluidAMV 185 101 A1. Tightening specification TRANSFER CASE, CHECKING TRANSMISSION FLUID LEVEL .

-- Position the Engine/Gearbox JackVAG 1383A with the Engine/Gearbox Jack - Gearbox SupportT10337 under the transfer case.

-- Lift the transfer case slightly using the Engine/Gearbox JackVAG 1383A.

WARNING:

There is the risk of an accident.

The Engine/Gearbox JackVAG 1383A may only be used during assembly and must not sit unsupervised under the vehicle.

-- Remove the bolts -1 and 2- from the Engine/Gearbox Jack - Gearbox Support.

-- Remove the bolts -1 and 2- and removed the bracket with the Engine/Gearbox Jack - Gearbox Support from the transfer case.

NOTE:

Ignore the bolts -arrows-.

-- Remove the bolts -arrows- that connect the front Driveshaft to the transfer case.

-- Use the Counterhold - Kit - Multiple UseT10172 and adapters T10172/6.

-- Tie the front Driveshaft to the body.

-- Lower the transfer case slightly.

-- Remove the circlip -1-.

-- Attach the Puller - Multiple UseVW 391 to the flange shaft.

M8 x 35 bolts

B -

M8 nuts

-- Remove flange shaft.

-- Make a hole in the center of the shaft seal with a drift.

-- Install the 4 mm diameter -arrow- screws.

NOTE:

Do not damage sealing surface on the input shaft when doing so.

Be careful not to install the screw too deep otherwise the bearing underneath will get damaged.

-- Remove the shaft seal with Puller - Unit InjectorT10055.
