Front Flange Shaft And Driveshaft Seal, Transfer Case Installed, Removing And Installing: Installing

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:

-- Lightly coat the outer circumference of the new shaft seal with oil.

-- Fill the space between the sealing- and dust lip half way with Sealing GreaseG 052 128 A1.

-- Drive in new shaft seal as far as stop without tilting it.

-- Heat the flange shaft -1- to approximately 80° C (176° F) with an Inductive HeaterVAS 6414 and then install it using the Seal Installer - Hollow ShaftT10380.

-- Install the locking ring -1-.

-- Attach the front Driveshaft to the transfer case. Refer to FRONT DRIVESHAFT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

NOTE:

Replace the Driveshaft bolts (self-locking).

-- Install the transmission carrier. Refer to TRANSMISSION CARRIER AND CONSOLE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Fill transmission oil and check oil level in transfer case TRANSFER CASE, CHECKING TRANSMISSION FLUID LEVEL .

-- If the vehicle has air suspension, deactivate the lift mode. Refer to Self-Leveling Suspension .
