Seat Occupied Recognition For Passenger Airbag Deactivation, Removing And Installing: Removing

WARNING:

The replacement part (service kit) for the passenger occupant detection system is already pre-calibrated and must not be separated under any circumstances. The service kit consists of:

Passenger Occupant Detection System Control Module -J706-
Passenger Occupant Detection System Pressure Sensor -G452-
Passive Occupant Detection System Mat
Seat cushion
Wiring Harness

WARNING:

Follow all Safety Precautions when working with pyrotechnic components. Refer to PYROTECHNIC, ELECTRICAL AND MECHANICAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM COMPONENTS, SAFETY PRECAUTIONS AND TESTING PROCEDURES .

-- Move passenger seat all the way up.

-- Remove passenger seat. Refer to FRONT PASSENGER SEAT OVERVIEW .

-- Remove seat pan cover and padding:

Manual front seat. Refer to COVERS AND CUSHION, MECHANICAL FRONT SEATS .
Electrically adjustable front seat (memory seat, power seat, and comfort seat). Refer to COVERS AND CUSHION, POWER FRONT SEATS (MEMORY SEAT, POWER SEAT) .

-- Slide Passenger Occupant Detection System Pressure Sensor -G452- -1- sideways from clip -2-.

-- Remove the bolts -4- and -5-.

CAUTION:

Connectors on Passenger Occupant Detection System Control Module -J706- -6- and Passenger Occupant Detection System Pressure Sensor -G452- -4- must not be disconnected.

-- Create photos or sketches of wire securing and routing.

-- Loosen seat wiring harness retainers and connectors so that this can be removed together with Passenger Occupant Detection System Control Module -J706- -6- and Passenger Occupant Detection System Pressure Sensor -G452- -4- without disconnecting or loosening connectors on Passenger Occupant Detection System Control Module -J706- and Passenger Occupant Detection System Pressure Sensor -G452-.

-- Fold seat cushion -2- upward.

-- Disengage seat occupied recognition mat -1- at seat frame -arrow A- and -arrow B-.

NOTE:

Connector between seat occupied recognition mat and seat cushion -arrow C- must not be disconnected.

-- Carefully pull seat occupied recognition mat -1- with seat cushion -2- upward while guiding Passenger Occupant Detection System Pressure Sensor -G452- and Passenger Occupant Detection System Control Module -J706- through seat pan without disconnecting connectors.

-- Remove the complete service kit.

WARNING:

The pressure hose and the Seat Occupied Recognition Mat -1- must not be kinked under any circumstances during repairs.
