Mechanical Vacuum Pump, Removing And Installing

Removal

Proceed as follows:

-- Remove the intake manifold, refer to INTAKE MANIFOLD .

-- Remove the cylinder head cover, refer to CYLINDER HEAD COVER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Free up electrical wiring harness.

-- Disconnect the vacuum line -A-.

-- Remove the bolts -arrows-.

-- Carefully remove the vacuum pump from the cylinder head.

NOTE:

If the sealing ring is still on the input shaft, it must be removed and placed on the vacuum pump.

A new vacuum pump is delivered with a sealing ring; 2 rings cannot be installed.

Installation

Tightening specification, refer to MECHANICAL VACUUM PUMP OVERVIEW .

The large opening must face outward after inserted in the vacuum pump.
The sealing ring must sit flush with the chamfer in the rotor.

-- Turn the rotor in the vacuum pump so that the flattened side of the input shaft slides into the rotor.

-- Slide the vacuum pump evenly as far as the stop into the upper timing chain cover hole.

NOTE:

If the vacuum pump is removed from the input shaft again, check the sealing ring location again.

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:

-- Install the cylinder head cover, refer to CYLINDER HEAD COVER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Install the intake manifold, refer to INTAKE MANIFOLD .
