Tightening Specifications
- Refer to SELECTOR LEVER AND Multifunction Transmission Range Switch -F125- .
- Refer to Fig 5.
-- Install the Multifunction Transmission Range Switch -F125- onto the selector shaft.
-- Install the bolts -arrows B- for the Multifunction Transmission Range Switch -F125- hand-tight.
-- Place Gauge - Multi Function SwitchT10173 on selector shaft.
If connector tab cannot engage in Gauge - Multi Function SwitchT10173 groove, transmission is not in "N" or selector lever cable is adjusted incorrectly.
-- Turn the multifunction switch -A- until the tab on the connector -arrow 1- locks into the groove on the Gauge - Multi Function SwitchT10173.
-- Secure Gauge - Multi Function SwitchT10173 with side screw.
-- Tighten the bolts -arrows B- on the Multifunction Transmission Range Switch -F125-.
-- Remove the Gauge - Multi Function SwitchT10173 from the selector shaft.
-- Connect the connector to the Multifunction Transmission Range Switch -F125-.
-- Switch ignition on.
The Following Conditions Must Be Met
- The "N" in the "PRNDS" display in the Transmission Range Display -Y6- must be lit.
- The "N" in the Selector Lever Transmission Range Position Display Unit -Y26- must turn on.
- The Shift Lock Solenoid -N110- must lock the selector lever in "N".
-- Turn off the ignition.
-- Attach lock washer -1- to selector shaft.
-- Tighten the nut -2-.
-- Secure the nut -2- by bending the hooks on the lock washer downward -1-.
- Replace the lock washer if several of the hooks break off while being bent.
-- Place the cover -2- on the selector shaft and tighten the nut -1-.
Selector shaft lever must not be bend when pressing selector lever cable on, counterhold if necessary.
-- Carefully press selector lever cable -2- onto selector shaft lever. Be careful not to bend the selector lever.
8-Cylinder Vehicles 4.2L FSI and TDI Engine
-- Install the heat shield over the Multifunction Transmission Range Switch -F125-.
6-Cylinder Vehicles 3.0L TDI Engine
-- Install the ATF Lines. Refer to ATF LINES AND ATF COOLER .
-- ATF level checking and filling. Refer to ATF LEVEL, CHECKING AND FILLING .
All Vehicles
Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:
-- Check selector lever cable adjustment. Refer to SELECTOR LEVER CABLE, ADJUSTING .
