Multifunction Transmission Range Switch -F125-, ADJUSTING
Special tools and workshop equipment required
- Pry Lever80-200
- Engine Bung SetVAS6122
- Gauge - Multi Function SwitchT10173
Procedure
- Tightening specifications. Refer to SELECTOR LEVER AND Multifunction Transmission Range Switch -F125- .
-- Move the selector lever into "N".
-- Remove the rear noise insulation -2-. Refer to NOISE INSULATION, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
8-Cylinder Vehicles 4.2L FSI and TDI Engine
-- Remove the heat shield over the Multifunction Transmission Range Switch -F125-.
6-Cylinder Vehicles 3.0L TDI Engine
-- Remove bolts from the ATF pipe bracket on the engine and transmission.
-- Remove the bolt -arrow- and pull the ATF lines off the transmission.
-- Seal any open lines and connections with a clean plug from the Engine Bung SetVAS6122.
All Vehicles
-- Move the selector lever into "N".
-- Remove the ball head -2- on the selector lever cable from the selector lever using the Pry Lever80-200.
The following steps must be performed exactly so that the selector lever cable and/or selector mechanism do not get bent or damaged.
Hold the cover -2- with pliers so that the selector shaft cannot rotate when removing the nut -1-.
-- Remove nut -1-.
-- Remove cover -2- from selector shaft.
-- Remove the bolts -arrows- from the Multifunction Transmission Range Switch -F125-.
-- Place the Gauge - Multi Function SwitchT10173 on the selector shaft.
If connector tab cannot engage in Gauge - Multi Function SwitchT10173 groove, transmission is not in "N" or selector lever cable is adjusted incorrectly.
-- Turn the multifunction switch -A- until the tab on the connector -arrow 1- locks into the groove on the Gauge - Multi Function SwitchT10173.
-- Secure Gauge - Multi Function SwitchT10173 with side screw.
-- Tighten the bolts -arrows- on the Multifunction Transmission Range Switch -F125-.
-- Remove the Gauge - Multi Function SwitchT10173 from the selector shaft.
-- Connect the connector to the Multifunction Transmission Range Switch -F125-.
-- Switch ignition on.
The Two Following Conditions Must Be Fulfilled
- The "N" in the "PRNDS" display in the Transmission Range Display -Y6- must be lit.
- The "N" in the Selector Lever Transmission Range Position Display Unit -Y26- must turn on.
The following steps must be performed exactly so that the selector lever cable and/or selector mechanism do not get bent or damaged.
-- Install the cover -2- on the selector shaft.
Hold the cover -2- with pliers so that the selector shaft cannot rotate when tightening the nut -1-.
-- Tighten the nut -1-.
8-Cylinder Vehicles 4.2L FSI and TDI Engine
-- Install the heat shield over the Multifunction Transmission Range Switch -F125-.
6-Cylinder Vehicles 3.0L TDI Engine
-- Install the ATF Lines. Refer to ATF LINES AND ATF COOLER .
-- ATF level checking and filling. Refer to ATF LEVEL, CHECKING AND FILLING .
All Vehicles
Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:
-- Check selector lever cable adjustment. Refer to SELECTOR LEVER CABLE, ADJUSTING .
