Oil Pump: Installing

- Tightening specifications, refer to OIL PUMP AND LOWER OIL PAN OVERVIEW .
NOTE:
Replace seals and O-rings.
-- Check whether the 2 alignment bushings are present in cylinder block, install if necessary.
-- Tighten oil pump -arrows-.
-- Unlock VAS 6226 and let driveshaft -1- glide into oil pump.

-- Check whether driveshaft is friction locked to oil pump. To do so, reach into intake opening -arrow- of oil pump and try to rotate oil pump gears.
- Toothed gears must not be able to be rotated.
The rest of the installation is in reverse order of removal, note the following:
-- Install coolant pump. Refer to COOLANT PUMP .
-- Install lower oil pan. Refer to INSTALLING .
-- Fill the engine oil and check the oil level. Refer to Standard Maintenance Service .
-- Fill with coolant. Refer to COOLING SYSTEM, DRAINING AND FILLING .
