Coolant Pump, Removing And Installing

Special tools and workshop equipment required 

NOTE:

If the Wrench - Water PumpVAG1590 was not already reworked, file the three rounded areas on the wrench to dimension -a-.

Dimension -a- = 1 mm.

Removal

Proceed as follows:

-- Drain the coolant, refer to COOLANT, DRAINING AND FILLING .

-- Remove the ribbed belt, refer to RIBBED BELT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove ribbed belt pulley while holding with Wrench - Water PumpVAG1590.

NOTE:

If engine is removed, coolant pump bolts are reached through ribbed belt pulley holes. Ribbed belt pulley can remain installed.

-- Place the Shop Crane - Drip TrayVAS6208 under the engine.

-- Remove bolts -1- for coolant pump -2-.

-- Tip coolant pump forward and out.

Installation

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:

-- Install the ribbed belt, refer to RIBBED BELT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Fill the coolant, refer to COOLANT, DRAINING AND FILLING .
