Lower Oil Pan: Installing
Replace the bolts for the lower oil pan.
Risk of eye injury.
- Wear protective eyewear.
-- Using rotating plastic brush, remove any remaining sealant from lower section of oil pan and upper section.
-- Clean the sealing surfaces; they must be free of oil and grease.
Note the expiration date of the sealing compound.
-- Cut the tube nozzle at the front marking (nozzle diameter approximately 1.5 mm).
The lubrication system could be plugged with excess sealant.
- Do not apply sealant bead thicker than indicated.
-- Apply a sealant bead -arrow- to the clean sealing surface on the lower section of the oil pan as shown in illustration.
- Thickness of sealant bead: 2.0 mm
Install the lower section of the oil pan within five minutes of applying the sealant.
-- Position the lower section of the oil pan and tighten the bolts. Refer to Figure.
-- Install the engine carrier. Refer to SUBFRAME ASSEMBLY OVERVIEW .
-- Install subframe. Refer to the appropriate service information .
-- Install refrigerant lines. Refer to the appropriate service information .
-- Install the front wheel housing liner. Refer to the appropriate service information .
-- Install engine bracket. Refer to SUBFRAME ASSEMBLY OVERVIEW .
-- Install the air filter housing. Refer to Removal and Installation .
-- Install the ribbed belt tensioner. Refer to RIBBED BELT TENSIONER .
-- Install stabilizer bar. Refer to the appropriate service information .
-- Install the left coolant pipe. Refer to LEFT COOLANT PIPE .
-- Fill engine oil and check oil level. Refer to Maintenance Procedures .
