Overview - Input Shaft

NOTE:

Pay attention to the technical data when installing new gears or the input shaft. Refer to TRANSMISSION/ENGINE ALLOCATION .

When replacing synchronizer rings, the intermediate ring and synchronizer ring for the respective gear must be replaced together.

Insert all bearings and synchronizer rings on input shaft with transmission fluid.

The 3rd through 6th gears must have an axial play of 0.15 to 0.50 mm after installing.

  1. Transmission Housing
  2. Ball Bearing
  3. Plate
    • To lock the ball bearing in the transmission housing on
  4. Input Shaft
    • With splines for the 1st, 2nd and Reverse gear
    • Checking the input shaft for wear. Refer to Fig 2
  5. Bolt
    • Tightening specification. Refer to 24 Nm.
  6. Roller Bearing
    • For the input shaft
    • Removing. Refer to "Press roller bearing off input shaft"  (See Figure).
    • Installing. Refer to "Install the roller bearing all the way onto the input shaft"  (See Figure).
  7. Bearing Bracket
    • Supports input shaft and input shaft in transmission cover
    • Refer to -item  3- Bearing Bracket (See Figure).
  8. Needle Bearing
    • For 5th gear
  9. 5th Gear Wheel
  10. Inner Race for 5th Gear
    • Installation position. Refer to Figure
    • Replace if there are grooves or scoring
  11. 5th Gear Intermediate Ring
    • Installation position. Refer to Figure
    • Checking for wear. Refer to Figure
  12. 5th Gear Synchronizer Ring
    • Installation position. Refer to Figure
    • Checking for wear. Refer to Figure
    • Replace if there are grooves or scoring
  13. Locking Collar/Synchronizer Hub for 5th and 6th Gears
    • Installation position: Higher inner collar on synchronizer hub faces the 5th gear wheel
    • Removing. Refer to "Remove the 5th gear wheel, the 5th- and 6th-gear synchronizer hubs and the inner race/needle bearing for the 6th gear wheel by pressing on them"  (See Figure).
    • Installing. Refer to Figure
    • Assembling locking collar/synchronizer hub; refer to Figure
  14. Inner Race/Needle Bearing
    • For 6th gear selector gear
    • Removing. Refer to "Remove the 5th gear wheel, the 5th- and 6th-gear synchronizer hubs and the inner race/needle bearing for the 6th gear wheel by pressing on them"  (See Figure).
    • Installing. Refer to Figure

    • For 6th gear
  16. Synchronizer Ring for 6th Gear
    • Installation position. Refer to Figure
    • Checking for wear. Refer to Figure
    • Replace if there are grooves or scoring
  17. Intermediate Ring for 6th Gear

  18. Inner Race for 6th Gear
    • Installation position. Refer to Figure
    • Replace if there are grooves or scoring
  19. 6th Gear Wheel
  20. Thrust Washer
    • For 3rd and 6th gear selector gears
  21. Inner Race/Needle Bearing
    • For 3rd gear
    • Removing. Refer to "Place the Separating Tool -A- underneath the helical-cut gear teeth on the 6th-gear wheel and remove the synchronizer hub in the 3rd/4th gear together with the inner race/needle bearings for the 3rd- and 4th-gear wheels"  (See Figure).
    • Installing. Refer to "-C- for the 3rd gear, pressing on"  (See Figure).
  22. Needle Bearing
    • For 3rd gear
  23. 3rd Gear Wheel
  24. 3rd Gear Inner Race
    • Installation position. Refer to Figure
    • Replace if there are grooves or scoring
  25. Intermediate Ring for 3rd Gear
    • Installation position. Refer to Figure
    • Checking for wear. Refer to Figure
  26. Synchronizer Ring for 3rd Gear
    • Installation position. Refer to Figure
    • Checking for wear. Refer to Figure
    • Replace if there are grooves or scoring
  27. Locking Collar/Synchronizer Hub for 3rd and 4th Gears
    • Removing. Refer to "Place the Separating Tool -A- underneath the helical-cut gear teeth on the 6th-gear wheel and remove the synchronizer hub in the 3rd/4th gear together with the inner race/needle bearings for the 3rd- and 4th-gear wheels"  (See Figure).
    • Installing. Refer to Figure
    • Assembling locking collar/synchronizer hub; refer to Figure
  28. Inner Race/Needle Bearing
    • For 4th gear
    • Removing. Refer to "Place the Separating Tool -A- underneath the helical-cut gear teeth on the 6th-gear wheel and remove the synchronizer hub in the 3rd/4th gear together with the inner race/needle bearings for the 3rd- and 4th-gear wheels"  (See Figure).
    • Installing. Refer to Figure
  29. Needle Bearing
    • For 4th gear
  30. Synchronizer Ring for 4th Gear
    • Installation position. Refer to Figure
    • Checking for wear. Refer to Figure
    • Replace if there are grooves or scoring
  31. Intermediate Ring for 4th Gear

    • Installation position. Refer to Figure
    • Replace if there are grooves or scoring
  33. 4th Gear Wheel

    • For 4th gear selector gear
  35. Ball Bearing
    • Removing. Refer to "Place the Separating Tool -A- underneath the helical-cut gear teeth on the 4th gear wheel and remove the ball bearing by pressing on it"  . (See Figure).
    • Installing. Refer to "ball bearing -C- until it hits the end stop"  (See Figure through Figure).
  36. Shim
    • Selecting thickness. Refer to "Determine Shim Thickness -B- as Follows:"  (See Figure through Figure).
  37. Circlip
