Tightening Sequence - Drive Plate/Torque Converter to Drive Plate

-- Install the first bolt -arrow- hand-tight.

-- Turn the crankshaft another 120° in the direction of engine rotation and install the second bolt hand-tight.

-- Turn the crankshaft again 120° in the direction of engine rotation.

-- Tighten the third bolt to the tightening specification. Refer to appropriate service information .

-- Tighten the remaining bolts to the tightening specification.

Install in reverse order of removal.

-- Install the exhaust system. Refer to OVERVIEW - MUFFLER .

-- Install the Air Conditioning (A/C) compressor. Refer to A/C COMPRESSOR .

-- Install the ribbed belt. Refer to RIBBED BELT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Electrical connections and wiring routing. Refer to the Appropriate Wiring Diagram.

-- Install the cable Terminal 30 Wire Junction 2 -TV22- and the cover for the plenum chamber E-box. Refer to RELAY PANELS, FUSE PANELS AND E-BOXES .

-- Install the plenum chamber bulkhead. Refer to BULKHEAD .

-- Install the Engine Control Module (ECM). Refer to Engine Control Module -J623-, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Install windshield wiper fluid reservoir filler tube. Refer to OVERVIEW - WINDSHIELD WASHER SYSTEM .

-- Install the tower brace. Refer to SUSPENSION STRUT AND UPPER CONTROL ARM .

-- Install the air filter housing. Refer to OVERVIEW - AIR FILTER HOUSING .

-- Install the lock carrier cover. Refer to ATTACHMENTS, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Install the ATF cooler. Refer to ATF COOLER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Follow all steps after connecting the battery. Refer to BATTERY .

CAUTION:

There is a risk of destroying control modules with excess voltage.

Do not use a charger as a starting aid.

-- Install the air filter housing. Refer to AIR FILTER HOUSING, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Install the engine cover. Refer to ENGINE COVER .

-- Check the oil level.

-- Connect the coolant hose to the coupling. Refer to appropriate service information. .

NOTE:

Do not reuse used coolant.

-- Fill with coolant. Refer to COOLANT, DRAINING AND FILLING .

-- Install the subframe crossbrace. Refer to SUBFRAME .

-- Install the wheel spoiler and wheel housing liners. Refer to WHEEL HOUSING LINER .

-- After replacing the engine

Adapt the chain length select using the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester, Guided Functions , 01 - Chain Length Adaptation Diagnosis .
Reset the combustion misfire adaptation, using the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester, Guided Functions , 01 Reset Combustion Misfire Adaptation .
