Crankshaft Seal, Removing And Installing, Transmission Side
Special tools and workshop equipment required
- Seal Installer - Crankshaft T10122A
- Puller - Crankshaft/Power Steering SealT20143
Procedure
- The transmission is removed.
-- Remove the drive plate. Refer to DRIVE PLATE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Pry the shaft seal out with the Pulling HookT20143/2.
-- Drill an 8 mm -arrow 2- hole in the Guide SleeveT10122/2 for the alignment sleeve; use the hole in the washer as a template -arrow 1-.
-- Clean the running and sealing surface.
-- Place the Assembly Device T10122/1 on the Guide SleeveT10122/2 and slide the shaft seal -A- onto the pull sleeve.
-- Remove the assembly device.
-- Position the Guide SleeveT10122/2 with shaft seal -1- on the crankshaft.
There is a rick of leaks due to incorrect assembly.
- To prevent the shaft seal sealing lip from rolling onto itself, insert the shaft seal by hand on the crankshaft.
-- Slide the shaft seal by hand over the Seal Installer - Crankshaft - Pulling SleeveT10122/2 on to the crankshaft.
-- Press shaft seal in evenly all around with Seal Installer - Crankshaft - Thrust SleeveT10122/5 until flush.
-- Install the drive plate. Refer to DRIVE PLATE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
