Input Shaft Seal, Replacing

Special tools and workshop equipment required 

Procedure

-- Remove the transfer case. Refer to TRANSFER CASE OVERVIEW .

-- To remove the shaft seal, install a 4 mm sheet metal screw into the shaft seal -arrow-.

-- Remove the shaft seal using the Puller - Unit InjectorT10055.

-- Coat the sealing lips -arrow- on the new shaft seal with ATF.

-- First, place the Seal Installer - Output Shaft Oil SealT10186 on the input shaft so that the shaft seal is not damaged when installed.

-- Drive the new shaft seal on as far as the stop using the Seal Installer - Output Shaft Oil SealT10180. Do not tilt shaft seal when doing so.

-- Install the transfer case. Refer to TRANSFER CASE OVERVIEW .

-- Checking and filling. Refer to ATF LEVEL, CHECKING AND FILLING .
