Front final drive 0C1 - Seal Installer - Flange ShaftT10259
Front final drive 0BM - Seal Installer - Front Final Drive FlangeT10436 for final drive 0BM
Sealing GreaseG 052 128 A1

Front final drive designation and allocation. Refer to FRONT FINAL DRIVE DESIGNATION 0BM AND 0C1 .

Removing

-- Remove the front final drive. Refer to FRONT FINAL DRIVE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Attach the Slide Hammer SetVW 771 to the right flange shaft.

-- Install the right flange shaft.

-- Remove the flange shaft seal using the Slide Hammer SetVW 771 and the Slide Hammer Set - HookVW 771/37.

Installing - Front Final Drive 0C1

-- Lightly coat the outer circumference of the new shaft seal with oil.

-- Drive on in new shaft seal as far as stop.

-- Fill the space between the sealing- and dust lip half way with Sealing GreaseG 052 128 A1.

-- Lightly coat the outer circumference of the new shaft seal with oil.

-- Drive on in new shaft seal as far as stop.

-- Fill the space between the sealing- and dust lip half way with Sealing GreaseG 052 128 A1.

NOTE:

Before installing the flange shaft, check the dust cap for damage. Replace the dust cap if necessary. Refer to LEFT FLANGE SHAFT DUST CAP, REPLACING .

-- Tension the flange shaft in a vice. Be sure to use vice protectors -B-.

-- Remove the locking ring -A- from the groove on the flange shaft with pliers.

-- Install the new locking ring into the groove in the flange shaft being careful not to overextend it.

-- Install the flange shaft using a plastic hammer.

-- Install the front final drive:

Vehicles with 3.0L TFSI engine. Refer to FRONT FINAL DRIVE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
Vehicles with a 3.0L TDI engine. Refer to FRONT FINAL DRIVE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
Vehicles with a 6.0L TDI engine. Refer to FRONT FINAL DRIVE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING

-- Check transmission fluid level in front final drive. Refer to AXLE OIL LEVEL IN FRONT FINAL DRIVE, CHECKING .
