Gear oil level in final drive, transmissions with separate oil systems, checking

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Old oil collecting and extracting device V.A.G 1782
• Safety glasses

Test condition 

• Axle oil temperature approx. 20°C (room temperature) to max. 50°C.
• Vehicle level.

→ Differentiation of separate or combined oil systems 

Test sequence 

• Place Used Oil Collecting and Extracting Device V.A.G 1782 under right side of transmission.

• Remove oil inspection and filler plug - arrow  -.

Conditions:

• The fluid level must be at bottom edge of inspection hole opening.

Axle oil specification , capacities → Capacities 

• Allow excess gear oil to drain or fill.
• Replace oil inspection and filler plug with seal.
• Install oil inspection and filler plug - arrow  -.
