Transmission, vehicles with 10-cylinder 5.2L FSI engine, removing and installing

Removing
The automatic transmission 09E is removed downward together with the engine and then separated from engine →
- 10 - ENGINE - ASSEMBLY for 4.2 LITER V8 4V ENGINE MECHANICAL, ENGINE CODE(S): BVJ
- 10 - ENGINE - ASSEMBLY for 4.2 LITER V8 5V ENGINE MECHANICAL, ENGINE CODE(S): BFM
- 10 - ENGINE - ASSEMBLY for 6.0 LITER 12-CYL. 4V ENGINE MECHANICAL, ENGINE CODE(S): BSB
CAUTION:
- If transmission is not set down correctly, components can be damaged.
- The transmission must not be set down on the ATF cooler - B - or transmission oil pan.
NOTE:
- All cable ties which are detached or cut open when removing the transmission must be replaced in the same position when installing.
Installing
Perform and observe the following test steps.
- Before installing transmission, check for correct position of alignment bushings on engine/crankcase.
- If an intermediate plate was equipped between engine and transmission, reinstall it in same position.
- Make sure that no wires become pinched when connecting engine and transmission.
- To secure torque converter to drive plate, use new ribbed bolts.
- Install 6 bolts - arrows - of torque converter in opening of the removed starter hand-tight at first (turn crankshaft 1 /3 turn further for each bolt).
- Then, tighten bolts of torque converter to specified torque (turn crankshaft 1 /3 revolution further for each bolt).
- Route and secure transmission ventilation hose according to the illustration.

- Press securing clip in and secure ventilation hose with cable tie
5 - Clamp
6 - Vent valve
- Connect ATF cooler to cooling hoses → ATF cooling lines, assembly overview .
- Adjust selector lever cable → Selector lever cable, checking and adjusting .
- Check axle oil level in transmission → Gear oil in automatic transmission .
- Check ATF level → ATF in planetary gearing .
