Ribbed belt, removing and installing

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Removing 

NOTE:

For vehicles with parking/auxiliary heater:

NOTE:
  • Before removing toothed belt, mark the running direction with chalk or felt tip marker. A reversed turning direction can cause damage to the belt under operating conditions.
  • Note previously marked direction of belt rotation and be sure that it is seated correctly on pulley.

Installing 

Installation is in reverse order of removal, note the following:

NOTE:
  • Check alignment of ribbed belt after replacing the following components → Ribbed belt alignment, checking  :
  • Power steering pump
  • Air conditioner compressor
  • Bracket for power steering pump and A/C compressor

  1. Upper idler pulley
  2. Crankshaft
  3. Lower idler pulley
  4. Power steering pump
  5. Air conditioner compressor
  6. Tensioning device for ribbed belt
  7. Generator
