Front Coolant Pipes
Special tools and workshop equipment required
- Hose Clip Pliers V.A.G 1921
- Drip Tray VAS 6208
Removing
Risk of scalding due to hot steam and hot coolant.
- When the engine is warm the cooling system is under pressure.
- To reduce pressure, cover coolant reservoir cap with cloth and carefully open.
-- Open coolant reservoir cap.
-- Remove the cover for the air guide; to do so disengage the side clips -arrows-.
-- Unclip the lower air guide, to do so disengage the clips -arrows-.
-- Remove the lower air guide together with the air guide hose.
-- Loosen the hose clamp -2-.
-- Remove bolt -4-.
-- Disconnect the connector -arrow- and free up the wire.
Ignore -1 and 3-.
-- Remove noise insulation. Refer to Removal and Installation .
Cabriolet
-- Remove the noise insulation bracket. Refer to Removal and Installation .
All
-- Remove the air guide pipe -1 and 2-.
-- Remove the bolt -1- and remove the air guide pipe downward.
Ignore -2, 3, 4 and arrow-.
-- Place VAS 6208 under engine.
-- Remove the coolant hoses from the after-run coolant pump -V51- -arrows-.
Ignore -1 and 2-.
-- Disconnect the vacuum line -1- to the EVAP canister by pressing the release button.
Ignore -2-.
-- Disengage the vacuum line on the front coolant pipes.
-- Remove the EVAP canister with the connected lines upward out of the bracket -arrow- and lay it aside.
-- Remove the bolts -1 and 2- and remove the front coolant pipes from the coolant hoses -arrows-.
Installing
- Tightening specifications, refer to COOLANT PIPES ASSEMBLY OVERVIEW .
Installation is in reverse order of removal, note the following:
Always replace gaskets and seals.
Secure all hose connections with hose clamps appropriate for the model.
-- Air guides, installing with connector. Refer to HOSE CONNECTIONS WITH CONNECTOR COUPLINGS, ASSEMBLING
-- Fill with coolant COOLING SYSTEM, DRAINING AND FILLING .
