ATF cooler (vehicles with V8 4.2L FSI engine), removing and installing

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Removing 

NOTE:
  • Before installing a replacement transmission, clean ATF cooler and ATF lines → ATF lines and ATF cooler, cleaning . If extremely dirty ATF flows out when blowing with compressed air, ATF cooler and ATF lines must also be flushed with clean ATF.
  • Rules of cleanliness for working on automatic transmissions → Rules of cleanliness for working on automatic transmissions .
  • Carefully clean all joints and adjacent areas before disconnecting.
  • When installing ATF lines, insert them by hand completely into transmission or ATF cooler as far as stop and then tighten.

Installing 

Installation is in reverse order of removal, note the following:

Torque specifications 

Component Nm
ATF cooler to bracket 9
ATF line to ATF cooler 5
ATF cooler bracket to body bracket 9
