Front backrest, removing and installing: Notes

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

1 - Fastening strip

2 - Backrest

CAUTION:
  • Observe safety precautions for work on airbags → Airbag safety precautions .
  • Before handling airbag units (e.g. disconnecting electrical connector), the person handling it must "electrostatically discharge". This can be done by touching door striker, for example.

Vehicles without modular wiring routing through 08.05 

Vehicles with modular wiring routing from 07.06 

Vehicles with modular wiring routing have a continuous wire from side airbag to connector station.

Procedure for all vehicles 

Installation is reverse of removal. When doing so, note the following:

4 - Fastening strip

5 - Screw, self-locking

6 - Support

7 - Tab

8 - Screw

9 - Support

10 - Seat pan

1 - Side airbag connector

2 - Clip

3 - Cable tie clips

4 - Harness connector of side airbag Ground (GND)

5 - Backrest heater connector

6 - Four-way lumbar support connector
