Side panels, removing and installing
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
- Engine and transmission holder VAS 6095
- Fixture for seat repair VAS 6136
1 - Screw (1.2 Nm)
2 - Side trim (sill side)
Removing
- Remove seat → Seat, removing and installing .
- Mount the fixture for seat repair VAS 6136 on the engine and transmission holder VAS 6095.
- Attach the front seat to the fixture for seat repair VAS 6136.
- Remove hand wheel for backrest adjustment - 11 -.
- Unclip side panel - 14 - on outside.
- Remove bolt - 13 - at handle for height adjustment.
- Remove handle for height adjustment - 12 -.
- Remove expanding clip - 15 -, press clamping pin through to the inside.
- Remove mounting bolt - 1 -.
- Remove side panel at lower edge from retaining bracket on seat.
- Swivel side panel upward at front edge.
- Remove side panel to side.
- Pull tab at rear of side panel out under backrest trim.
- Disengage brackets for electrical harness connectors.
- Free up electrical wiring.
Installing
Installation is reverse of removal.

- Front Passengers Seat Bolster Inflation Adjustment Button E588
- Removing and installing → Backrest bolster inflation adjustment button and bolster inflation adjustment button, removing and installing
5 - Screw (0.4 Nm)
6 - Button for backrest bolster inflation adjustment
- Drivers Backrest Bolster Inflation Adjustment Button E589
- Front Passengers Backrest Bolster Inflation Adjustment Button E590
- Removing and installing → Backrest bolster inflation adjustment button and bolster inflation adjustment button, removing and installing
7 - Screw (0.4 Nm)
8 - Switch for lumbar support adjustment
- Drivers Seat Lumbar Support Adjustment Switch E176
- Front Passengers Seat Lumbar Support Adjustment Switch E177
- Removing and installing → Backrest bolster inflation adjustment button and bolster inflation adjustment button, removing and installing
9 - Side trim (tunnel side)
Removing
- Remove seat → Seat, removing and installing .
- Mount the fixture for seat repair VAS 6136 on the engine and transmission holder VAS 6095.
- Attach the front seat to the fixture for seat repair VAS 6136.
- Remove expanding clip - 10 -, press clamping pin through to the inside.
- Disengage retaining detent at rear side of side panel on tunnel side.
- Remove trim.
Installing
Installation is reverse of removal.

- Removing and installing → Hand wheel for backrest adjustment, removing and installing
12 - Handle for seat height adjustment
13 - Bolt (22 Nm)
- Replace with locking compound
- Locking compound
14 - Side panel on outside
