Steering Column Switch Module (SCSM), removing and installing: Removing

- Remove airbag unit and steering wheel:
See appropriate air bag article in Restraints .
- Pull steering column all the way out and down.
- Remove Torx bolts -3- and -5- as well as the hex socket bolt -4-. See Fig 1.
- Separate top trim -2- for steering column switches from bottom trim -2- and remove both parts.
To install, insert top trim piece into catches of bottom trim piece, press together and bolt.
NOTE:
Wheels must be in straight-ahead position when removing or installing return ring with slip ring.
- Disconnect harness connector -1-.
- Carefully release catch (arrows) and pull return ring with slip ring from steering column switch module (SCSM).
- Remove bolt 9. See STEERING COLUMN SWITCH MODULE (SCSM), DISASSEMBLING .
- Disconnect electrical harness connectors.
- Carefully pull off steering column switch together with steering column electronic systems control module.
