Guide Bushing: Installation

Align new guide bearing. See Fig 2 . Using Tool (3294 and 3294-1), press new guide into axle. See Fig 3 . Bearing should be pressed into axle until metal housing makes contact with pin "A" on tool. See Fig 4 . Carefully raise axle and loosely install new guide bushing bolts and nuts. Loosely install brake proportioning valve. Connect brake lines. Remove brake pedal support. Bleed brakes. See BLEEDING BRAKE SYSTEM in the BRAKE SYSTEM article. Center rear axle. See CENTERING REAR AXLE  under ADJUSTMENTS. Adjust brake proportioning valve. See REAR BRAKE PROPORTIONING VALVE  under ADJUSTMENTS. Perform final tightening of guide bushing bolts with vehicle weight on wheels. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
