Wheel Bearing Housing: Installation

  1. For plugged in ABS wheel-speed sensor: press ABS wheel speed sensor into wheel bearing housing until stop. For bolted ABS wheel-speed sensor: screw in ABS wheel speed sensor to 89 INCH lbs. (10 N.m). To tighten bolt joints (1), (2), and (4) in Figure , lift the trapezoidal link until the shock absorber has made about 40-50 mm of upwards suspension. Tighten bolts as follows:
    • Item 1: 70 ft. lbs. (95 N.m)
    • Item 2 (up to m.y. 1996): 0 ft. lbs. (95 N.m).
    • Item 2 (from m.y. 1997): 52 ft. lbs (70 N.m), plus additional 90 degrees (1/4 turn)
    • Item 4: 59 ft. lbs. (80 N.m), plus additional 90 degree (1/4 turn)
    • Item 5: 33 ft. lbs. (45 N.m)
  2. Installing coil spring. The lower spring support has a groove. See Figure . This groove is to be inserted in the lug at the trapezoidal link. Turn end of coil spring until it makes contact with lower spring support. Then turn upper spring support (not shown) until it makes contact with top end of spring. Release tension on the spring. Bolt brake shield and brake caliper to the wheel bearing housing.
  3. . Always use NEW self-locking nuts. Tighten fasteners to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  . Perform final tightening of fasteners with vehicle weight on the wheels. Check wheel alignment after servicing. See SPECIFICATIONS & PROCEDURES article in WHEEL ALIGNMENT.
