Instrument cluster, removing and installing: Removing

NOTE:

Instrument cluster cannot be disassembled.
It is not necessary to remove the steering wheel when removing the instrument cluster. For the sake of clarity, the steering wheel is not shown in the following illustrations.
Before removing the instrument cluster, check DTC memory. See CHECK DTC MEMORY (FUNCTION 02) .
Use the VAG 1551 or VAG1552 Scan Tool (ST) to check the Service Reminder Indicator (SRI) and odometer readings and record the displayed values. See ADAPTATION (FUNCTION 10) .

Using steering column adjustment, pull steering wheel out and down as far as it will go.
Push in both covers (arrows) and remove from instrument cluster.

Remove screws at right and left.

Remove instrument cluster toward front.
Cut cable ties on back side of instrument cluster.
Release retaining tabs on harness connectors and disconnect connector.
