Emergency start function using VAG 1551: Requirements

NOTE: Once the emergency start procedure has been successfully completed, the warning lamp will light constantly and the immobilizer will be switched free:
NOTE:
  • After three incorrect entries of the secret number, the immobilizer is locked.
  • It is not possible to make another attempt for 10 minutes. During this time, the ignition must remain constantly switched on. This time is doubled after every third consecutive incorrect attempt, up to a maximum of 255 minutes.
  • If no buttons or knobs are operated for more than 30 seconds during the input procedure, the emergency start attempt is aborted.
  • If emergency start attempt is performed successfully, vehicle can be started within 45 minutes with the S-contact closed
  • With S-contact open, i.e. vehicle key removed, engine can only be started within 5 minutes.
