Fuel Gauge Test

  1. Remove connector from fuel gauge sending unit. Connect Volkswagen Tester (1301) to sending unit terminals.
  2. Turn ignition on and adjust Volkswagen Tester (1301) to the following settings:
    • Dial setting 550, gauge should indicate empty.
    • Dial setting 50, gauge should indicate full.
      NOTE: Ensure that connector is not pushed back in sleeve during test.
  3. With Volkswagen Tester (1301) setting at 550, gauge should be at the "Empty" mark on fuel gauge. With Volkswagen Tester (1301) setting at 50, gauge should be at the "Full" mark on fuel gauge.
  4. If test values are not exactly the same, adjust fuel gauge. See FUEL GAUGE ADJUSTMENT  in this article.
