INSTALLATION
CAUTION:
When supporting or lifting the transmission at the oil pan the weight of the transmission must be distributed evenly on the lifting fixture. Failure to do so could damage the oil pan and transmission.
NOTE:
Make sure that the transmission dowel pins are seated in engine block and protrude far enough to hold transmission in alignment.
- Install the torque converter and verify it is fully seated in the bellhousing. Refer to
TORQUE CONVERTER, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Install the extension housing (2) and the extension housing bolts (1) and tighten to the proper torque specifications. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS
.NOTE:
Hold the torque converter in place during transmission installation.
NOTE:Rotate the torque converter to line up with the flex plate holes before the transmission is bolted to the engine.
- Using a suitable jack, align the transmission to the bellhousing studs and seat the bellhousing to the engine.NOTE:
Verify the alignment dowel pins are seated in the alignment holes on the bellhousing.
- Install the bellhousing retaining nuts (1) and using a crisscross pattern tighten to the proper torque specifications. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS
.
- Install NEW
torque converter bolts (1) and tighten to the proper torque specifications. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS
.
- Install the bellhousing inspection cover.
- Connect the transmission wiring harness connectors (1).
