Removal And Installation

REMOVAL 

  1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.

  2. Disconnect the wire harness connector (2a) from the Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS) (1c).
  3. Loosen the captive nut (1a).
    NOTE:

    Do not remove the captive nut, doing so will cause the stud on the IBS post clamp to break.

  4. Using an appropriate battery terminal puller, remove the battery cable terminal (1b) from the negative battery post.
    NOTE:

    Never pry the IBS to remove it from the post clamp. This will damage the IBS and will need to be replaced.

NOTE:

Connecting the negative battery cable to the IBS must be done before installing on the battery post.

NOTE:

DO NOT use a hammer to tap down the sensor. Use a post spreader to open the post if reusing the existing sensor.

NOTE:

Avoid IBS rotation during tightening of the nut to avoid breakage of the connector when rotating onto the battery.

INSTALLATION 

  1. Place the IBS onto the negative battery post and push the IBS down until properly seated on the cone of the post.

  2. Tighten the post clamp nut (3a) to the proper torque specifications. Refer to TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS .
  3. Install the wire harness connector (1a) to the IBS (1b). Make sure there is no stress on the wires.
