Right Camshaft Chain

REMOVAL 

1. Remove the powertrain from the vehicle, separate the engine from the transmission and place the engine on a maintenance stand. Refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
2. Remove the flexplate. Refer to FLEXPLATE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
3. Remove the timing chain cover, right camshaft chain tensioner and tensioner arm. Refer to GUIDES, TIMING CHAIN, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .

4. Remove the left-handed bolt (1a) and the exhaust phase variator (1b), with the washer (1c).

   NOTE:

   The letters "SCA" (a) are etched on the rear of the exhaust camshaft phase variator.

5. Remove the right camshaft chain (1).

INSTALLATION 

1. Place the right camshaft chain in position.

   NOTE:

   Lubricate the phase variator bolt (1b) with engine oil before installation.

2. Install the exhaust side phase variator (1a) with a NEW  washer and tighten the left-handed bolt (1b) to the proper torque specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
3. Install the tensioner arm, right camshaft chain tensioner and timing chain cover. Refer to GUIDES, TIMING CHAIN, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
4. Install the flexplate. Refer to FLEXPLATE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
5. Remove the engine from the maintenance stand, install the transmission to the engine and install the powertrain in the vehicle. Refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
