Primary Cam Chain Idler Sprocket Hub

REMOVAL 

1. Remove the powertrain from the vehicle, separate the engine from the transmission and place the engine on a maintenance stand. Refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
2. Remove the flexplate. Refer to FLEXPLATE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
3. Remove the timing chain cover and oil pump drive chain. Refer to CHAIN AND SPROCKETS, TIMING, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
4. Remove the primary camshaft chain. Refer to CHAIN AND SPROCKETS, TIMING, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .

5. Remove the bolts (1a) and the hub (1b) complete with O-ring (1c).

INSTALLATION 

1. Install a NEW  O-ring on the hub flange.

   NOTE:

   To install the hub properly, align the two channels (a) with the oil ducts (b) shown in illustration .

2. Install the hub (1) with a NEW  O-ring.

3. Tighten the hub bolts (1) to the proper torque specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .

   NOTE:

   After installation, the threaded hole (a) for securing the front bearing flange must be at the bottom as shown in illustration .

4. Install the primary camshaft chain. Refer to CHAIN AND SPROCKETS, TIMING, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
5. Install the oil pump drive chain and timing chain cover. Refer to CHAIN AND SPROCKETS, TIMING, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
6. Install the flexplate. Refer to FLEXPLATE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
7. Remove the engine from the maintenance stand, install the transmission to the engine and install the powertrain in the vehicle. Refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
