Removal And Installation: Removal

- Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
- Remove the hood. Refer to HOOD, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Remove the front fascia. Refer to FASCIA, FRONT, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
- Drain the cooling systems. Refer to COOLING/STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- Remove the radiator. Refer to RADIATOR, ENGINE COOLING, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Remove the air cleaner body and tubes. Refer to BODY, AIR CLEANER, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Remove the exhaust resonator. Refer to RESONATOR, EXHAUST, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Remove the drive shafts. Refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Remove the front fuel vapor line. Refer to LINES, FUEL VAPOR, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Remove the right fuel vapor line between fuel vapor solenoid and the intake manifold. Refer to LINES, FUEL VAPOR, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Remove the left fuel vapor line between fuel vapor solenoid and the intake manifold. Refer to LINES, FUEL VAPOR, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Remove the front fuel delivery line. Refer to LINES, FUEL, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Remove the cowl panel cover. Refer to COVER, COWL PANEL, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION

- Disconnect the degassing pipe from the pressurized coolant bottle and release it from the retaining clip (1).
- Disconnect the rear right oxygen sensor wire harness connector and release it from the retaining clips.
- Disconnect the front right oxygen sensor wire harness connector (1) and release it from the retaining clips.
- Disconnect the Powertrain Control Module (Master) wire harness connector (1).
- Disconnect the engine wire harness connectors (1) and release them from the mounting brackets.
- Disconnect the engine control module (slave) wire harness connector (2).
- Disconnect the rear left (1a) and front left (1b) oxygen sensor wire harness connectors and release them from the retaining clips.
- Disconnect the quick couplings for the coolant delivery and return pipes (1).
- Disconnect the quick coupling of the vacuum line, releasing it from the top retaining clip (1).
- Remove the nut (1a) and disconnect the pipe (1b) from compressor to expansion valve.
- Seal the system with suitable plugs or tape to prevent moisture and impurities from entering the system.
- Disconnect the coolant inlet multi-way pipe to radiator (1).
- Disconnect the quick coupling (1) of the coolant supply pipe to the turbocharger air cooling system radiator from the triple pipe.
- Disconnect the quick coupling (2) of the coolant supply pipe to the turbocharger air cooling system pump from the triple pipe.
- Disconnect the quick coupling (1a) of the radiator coolant supply multi-way pipe (1b) from the supply pipe between the multi-way pipe and the radiator.
- Remove the screw (1) and release the support bracket of the pipe from compressor to air conditioning condenser.
- Remove the nut (2a) and disconnect the pipe (2b) from the compressor to air conditioning condenser.
- Seal the system with suitable plugs or tape to prevent moisture and impurities from entering the system.
- Disconnect the quick coupling (1) for the degassing multi-way pipe from the supercharger air cooling system supply reservoir.
- Remove the clamp and disconnect the multi-way degassing pipe from the supercharger air cooling system radiator (1).
- Disconnect the wire harness connections (1) of the air pressure/temperature sensors on the supercharging air-water heat exchangers.
- Using a commercially available disconnect tool (1a), uniformly open the clip (1b) and disconnect the oil supply pipe (1c).
- Repeat for the return pipe.
- Disconnect the quick coupling (1) for the coolant pump inlet multi-way pipe to the pressure pump, on the pump side.
- Release the cover of the engine starting terminal board (1b) from the retainers (1a).
- Remove the nut (1a) and disconnect the alternator and starter motor supply lead (1b).
- Release the power supply lead from the retaining clip (2).
- Disconnect the quick coupling (1) of the coolant supply pipe between the multi-way pipe and the engine coolant supplementary radiator, engine cooling system supplementary radiator coolant inlet/outlet tandem pipe side.
- Remove the nut (1a) and disconnect the ground (1b) from the right front side panel.
- Disconnect the quick connector (1) of the coolant outlet pipe from supercharger air cooling system radiator, radiator side.
- Disconnect the ignition system control unit wire harness connector (1).
- Disconnect the control module joint (2).
- Open the retaining clip and disconnect the quick coupling (1) of the front fuel vapor pipe.
- Disconnect the fuel temperature-pressure sensor wire harness connector (2).
- Release the fuel supply pipe from the intermediate retaining clip (3).
- Disengage the wiring (1) for the wheel speed sensor from the brake line retaining bracket.
- Remove the nut (1) and disconnect the ground wire.
- Remove the double shank screws (2a) and release the wiring retaining bracket (2b) from the wheel strut.
- Remove the screw (1a) and release the wheel speed sensor (1b) from the wheel hub strut.
- Remove the nut (1a) and disconnect the link (1b) from the strut.
- Disconnect the brake pad wear sensor wire harness connector (1).
- Remove the bolts (2a) and remove the brake caliper (2b).
- Appropriately support the brake caliper and hoses.
- Remove the bolt (1) securing the shock absorber to the lower rear control arm.
- Remove the bolt (1a) and disconnect upper control arm (1b) from wheel strut (1c).
- To simplify separation of the powertrain assembly from the front suspension crossmember, disconnect the left half shaft from the wheel hub as described below.
- Holding the wheel hub in place (1a), remove the staking and remove the nut (1b) securing the left half shaft to the wheel hub.
- Using a suitable soft mallet, disconnect the left half shaft and release it from the wheel hub.
- Remove the bolt (1a) and disconnect the column (1b) from the steering box.
- Disconnect the electric steering control unit wire harness connections (1).
- Release the automatic transmission wire harness (1).
- Disconnect the automatic transmission wire harness connectors (1).
- On both sides, remove the bolts (1a) and remove the radiator mounting brackets (1b).
- Remove the bolts (1a) and remove the battery supply wiring duct (1b).
- Place commercially available rubber spacer blocks, such as ROTFJ2427/J2440 or equivalent, on the (special tool #BX50-CHR, Table, Bishamon Lift) and position it under the powertrain and suspension crossmember assembly.
- Place a suitable hydraulic lift under the rear differential to prevent the car from pitching.
- Remove the screws (1a) securing the transmission crossmember (1b) to the body.
- Remove the nut (1a) and disconnect the ground lead from the body (1b).
- On both sides, remove the front screws (1a) securing the front suspension cross member (1b) to the body.
- On both sides, remove the rear and central bolts (1a) securing the front suspension cross member (1b) to the body.
- Lower the platform lift (special tool #BX50-CHR, Table, Bishamon Lift) or equivalent (1a), complete with powertrain assembly and suspension crossmember (1b).
