Removal And Installation - Right

NOTE:

If the oxygen sensor needs to be replaced, connect the diagnosis equipment to the vehicle diagnosis socket, go to "ECM" in the "Miscellaneous functions" menu and start the "Reset adaptive parameters" procedure.

REMOVAL 

  1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the right front wheelhouse splash shield. Refer to SHIELD, SPLASH, FRONT WHEELHOUSE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  3. Remove the belly pan. Refer to BELLY PAN, ENGINE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION or BELLY PAN, REAR, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION or BELLY PAN, SIDE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  4. Remove the right side engine box reinforcement brace. Refer to BRACE, ENGINE BOX REINFORCEMENT, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
  5. Remove the air cleaner body. Refer to BODY, AIR CLEANER, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .

  6. Disconnect the rear oxygen sensor wire harness connector (1).
  7. Release the clips and remove the rear oxygen sensor wiring.

  8. Working on the upper area of the catalytic converter (1a), remove the retaining clamps (1c) and then disconnect the pipe (1b) for the particulate filter pressure sensor.
    NOTE:

    The clamps must be replaced.

  9. Remove the bolt (1a) and loosen the collar (1b) securing the catalytic converter (1c) to the turbocharger.
  10. Remove the exhaust resonator. Refer to RESONATOR, EXHAUST, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .

  11. Remove the bolts (1a) and nuts (1b) securing the catalytic converter support bracket (1c) and remove the bracket.

    NOTE:

    Adequately protect the flex joint because excessive bending could cause it to break.

  12. Remove the right catalytic converter (1) complete with rear oxygen sensor.

  13. Remove the rear oxygen sensor (1) from the catalytic converter.

INSTALLATION 

  1. Install a NEW  gasket.

  2. Install the rear oxygen sensor (1) and tighten it to the proper torque specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .

  3. Install the catalytic converter (1).

  4. Tighten the catalytic converter bracket nuts (1a) to the proper torque specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .

  5. Tighten the catalytic converter bracket (1a) bolts (1b) to the proper torque specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .

  6. Tighten the exhaust pipe clamp (1b) bolt (1a) securing the catalytic convertor (1c) to the turbo, to the proper torque specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  7. Install the exhaust resonator. Refer to RESONATOR, EXHAUST, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .

  8. Connect the oxygen sensor wire harness connector (1) and engage the wiring in the retaining clips.

  9. Working on the upper area of the catalytic converter (1a), connect the pipe (1b) for the particulate filter pressure sensor and then secure the clamps (1c).
  10. Install the air cleaner body. Refer to BODY, AIR CLEANER, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  11. Install the right side engine box reinforcement brace. Refer to BRACE, ENGINE BOX REINFORCEMENT, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
  12. Install the belly pan. Refer to BELLY PAN, ENGINE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION or BELLY PAN, REAR, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION or BELLY PAN, SIDE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  13. Install the back half of the left front wheelhouse splash shield. Refer to SHIELD, SPLASH, FRONT WHEELHOUSE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  14. Connect the negative battery cable.
